The truth hurts...and heals
This documentary has to be THE most important health information out in the media today! Based on evidenced-based research, each part hits home in one area or another. Obesity is not alone in creating grave health issues for our selves...and more horribly, our children. Being a "little overweight" is no longer an excuse to avoid waking up and seeing the truth in our mirrors, blood pressure checks, and lab work. The truth hurts and this documentary pulls no punches. However, the truth will set you free. Watch this entire documentary by yourself, with your family, with your neighbors, and with your local schools to see how effective small steps make in reducing hypertension and type II diabetes in our 5-7 year olds (per a study of two local pre-primary schools)! Come on, America... where is all that "pride" seen on those bumper stickers...get moving! Start with this riveting movie produced in collaboration of our Institute of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, and the Centers for...
Excellent
This is an excellently done series. As a nation, we need to address obesity as it impcts us on all levels, and is probably the most dangerous threat facing our children as well. Your chances of dying of cancer are increased by 40%,just to start, &diabetes is a huge danger with overweight.
Our financial situation as a nation is jeopardized, and our future as a nature as a nation compromised. With agrabiz and culture set toward cheap, easily affordable foods, we are set on a track of failure. Yet I know some people who eat very healthily and are still obese, so there is more to this pervasive problem, including our cultural and sociological references... We need to act now, to change the patterns that cause overweight and obesity in this country. 1 out of 3 whites and one out of two black or hispanics are going to be overweight in a few years.
Superbly cratfed, in HBO's finest style!
Like most people, I am trying to lose a few pounds and found this documentary very helpful and supportive. I will be purchasing the DVD collection, since HBO has made it easy to afford and I understand it has a number of bonus features.
